PCB | Wet Process Engineer - Day Shift

Summary:
The Wet Process Engineer is critical in overseeing, optimizing, and supporting all wet process operations involved in PCB manufacturing, including but not limited to cleaning, etching, plating, stripping, and surface finishing. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in chemical engineering or materials science, a strong understanding of PCB fabrication processes, and a commitment to quality and continuous improvement.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

· Develop, monitor, and optimize wet processes including inner/outer layer etching, copper plating, ENIG/ENEPIG, oxide, micro-etch, stripping, and cleaning.

· Maintain process control systems and documentation in accordance with Westak Circuit’s standards and ITAR regulations.

· Troubleshoot process-related issues and implement corrective actions.

· Support new product introductions (NPI) by developing and qualifying wet process procedures.

· Work closely with Production, Quality, and Maintenance teams to ensure efficient and safe process operations.

· Perform root cause analysis for process deviations or defects and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

· Specify and qualify wet process chemicals and ensure proper handling and disposal in compliance with environmental regulations.

· Collaborate with suppliers for material evaluations and chemical performance assessments.

· Provide training to operators and technicians on wet process best practices and safety protocols.

· Maintain documentation for audits and regulatory compliance (ITAR, ISO, AS9100, etc.).

Education and Qualifications:

· Minimum of 3 years of experience in wet process engineering in PCB manufacturing.

· Strong knowledge of PCB fabrication processes and industry standards (IPC, MIL-PRF, etc.).

· Familiarity with ITAR requirements and working in an ITAR-regulated environment.

· Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and optimize chemical processes.

· Strong data analysis, reporting, and documentation skills.

· Proficiency in SPC, DOE, FMEA, and other quality and process control tools.

· Must be a U.S. person or lawful permanent resident due to ITAR compliance.

Preferred Education and Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or related technical field.

· Experience with ENIG, ENEPIG, immersion silver, and/or other advanced surface finishes.

· Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma certification is a plus.

· Experience with environmental and safety compliance (OSHA, EPA, etc.).

Physical Requirements:

· Ability to stand, walk, and move about the production floor for extended periods (up to 10 hours).

· Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 lbs occasionally.

· Ability to work in areas with chemical exposure (proper PPE will be provided).

· Capable of wearing a respirator, gloves, safety goggles, and other protective equipment as required.

· Must be able to visually inspect products and chemical processes with precision.

· Occasional bending, stooping, and reaching may be required in the course of troubleshooting or equipment monitoring.

· Must be able to work in a moderate-noise manufacturing environment.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $104,000.00 - $141,311.00 per year
