About the Opportunity

The Senior Buyer position is responsible for developing strategies for planning, forecasting and procuring various materials. The Senior Buyer will source, research and evaluate suppliers, negotiates contracts and manage supplier relationships. Promotes the smooth flow of material (assembly, consumables and raw) through the plant to ensure that the Company’s goals are met. Senior Buyer is also responsible for the purchasing of materials and services to optimize price, quality, and delivery. 

What You'll Do:

  • Analyze market trends, pricing and quality of products to ensure the best value for the organization.

  • Manages the procurement process from cradle to grave, ensuring compliance with company policies, SOPs and procedures.

  • Identify opportunities for cost savings, cost avoidance and process improvements

  • Provides guidance and support to junior members of the purchasing team.

  • Generates RFQ’s and places purchase orders, negotiates lowest cost and most favorable terms to support material demand requirements

  • Must follow up on open purchase orders to ensure product is delivered timely

  • Responsible for supplier On Time Delivery (OTD)

  • Resolves supplier invoicing issues and implements corrective actions to minimize future errors

  • Participates in daily and weekly production meetings to provide material parts status

  • Act as a cross-functional team member in partnership with account management, assembly kitting and assembly production associates to ensure orders are released to the floor in an efficient and timely manner 

  • Monitors MRP to ensure material supply is aligned to system demand and strategically uses system planning and parameters to ensure optimal inventory levels

  • Conducts periodic supplier business reviews to improve supplier performance

  • Performs other duties as assigned

What You'll Bring:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in procurement or purchasing

  • Strong negotiation skills

  • Must be able read, write and communicate effectively in English

  • Excellent organizational and decision-making skills

  • Prior experience in aerospace industry is a plus

  • Proficient in reading technical blueprints, certifications and standards

  • Knowledge of AS9100 Quality Management System requirements (Preferred) 

  • Excellent computer skills and proficiency in Windows and Microsoft Excel and Word

  • Proficient understanding of manufacturing, PCB or engineering processes (Preferred) 

  • Experience working with an MRP System

  • Experience working with ProCim (Preferred)

Education and Experience:

  • Associated degree in Supply Chain Logistics, Business Operations, Inventory Management or related field or comparable industry experience, but bachelor’s degree or higher (Preferred) 

  • 2 to 5 years of experience in a similar role or equivalent combination of education and experience 

  • Inventory control experience

Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday

  • Weekends as needed

Work Setting:

  • On-site only

Job Type: Full-time

California Pay Range

$67,000 - $79,000 USD

The actual compensation offered is based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, years and depth of experience, certifications, and other relevant business considerations.
