Summary:

Quality Engineers work to ensure a high level of quality product or service that meets customer expectations. The QE also verifies product performance and troubleshoots any errors or defects.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Identify and resolve non-conformances through root cause analysis, corrective actions, and failure analysis.

  • Interface with customers regarding quality concerns including non-conformance and product status; handle and implement corrective measures.

  • Perform internal audits of processes and procedures; handle external auditing processes such as validating quality packages to ensure deliverables are present and accurate and uploading quality packages onto customer portals; prepare and host annual audits.

  • Work with engineering departments to analyze, evaluate, develop, implement and maintain quality assurance systems and methods that improve Standard Operating Procedures to increase product reliability and reduce scrap through updates and revisions; ensure proper training of updates.

  • Understand and interpret customer drawings and correlating requirements to physical product specifications and requirements and develop customer / product specific “Acceptance Test Plans” conforming to such requirements [customer product specs, Statement of Work, etc.]; ensure that all requirements and specifications are met before product release.

  • Create custom presentations, technical data, product assessments and supporting responses to customer inquiries; use in-house tracking system to monitor remakes resulting from customer feedback.

  • Assist with Quality data collecting, monitoring and metrics reporting.

  • Create / support development of APQP planning and other quality initiatives (e.g., control plans, Process flow, PFMEA, RPN - Risk Assessment, etc.)

  • Support supplier Quality elements; evaluate additions to approved supplier listing; audit suppliers; coordinate and resolve corrective and preventative actions of suppliers.

Required Qualifications:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Knowledge of material science and chemistry

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and time-management skills

  • Highly organized and data-oriented

  • High technical capacity

  • Experience with continuous improvement processes/techniques

  • Ability to read mechanical and electrical blueprints and customer specifications

  • Knowledge of ISO and NADCAP

  • Knowledge of ANSI Y 14.5 (GD&T); AS 9102

  • Knowledge and application of AS 9100 Quality assurance standards for creation & update of a Quality Management System (QMS).

  • Knowledge and execution of proper CAPA protocols including application of recognized quality tools (Ishikawa diagrams; poka-yoke, 5 -why, etc.)

  • Knowledge and application of product specific specifications: IPC-6013, IPC-6012, IPC A-600, IPC A-610, J-STD-001 MIL-PRF-31032 and referenced supporting documentation.

  • Knowledge and application of SPC techniques (histogram, control chart, run chart, Pareto chart, etc.). Application of Six Sigma process control techniques. Six Sigma or Lean Certification (Preferred)

  • Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite

  • Comprehensive knowledge of the PCB industry and all manufacturing processes

Education and Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Material Science, Chemical Engineering, related field or comparable industry experience (Required)

California Pay Range

$87,510 - $107,719 USD

The actual compensation offered is based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, years and depth of experience, certifications, and other relevant business considerations.
